The bison herd at Konza Prairie is part of a large experiment to better understand the complex relationship between native grazing animals and the prairie. It is certainly a 2-way partnership. The bison get their food, shelter, water and a lovely view. The prairie gets selective grazing - i.e. the bison chose to eat grass and don't eat wildflowers - that then impacts just about everything else.
